Essential Pre-departure Information
Congratulations on choosing a Whitsunday sailing holiday with OzSail! In the time prior to your departure, we have no doubt the beautiful aqua blue waters of the Whitsundays will often be on your mind. Maybe you picture yourself scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, surrounded by thousands of tropical fish.
Maybe you see yourself sunbathing on the pure white silica sands of Whitehaven Beach. Or maybe you envision yourself hoisting the sails on one of our Performance Yachts and experiencing some very serious sailing. Whatever your expectations are, everyone here at OzSail would like to make sure nothing spoils your Whitsunday sailing holiday, so we’ve put together a Predeparture Information sheet with some essential information on it. Please take the time to read through it and then feel free to ask us any further questions you may have!
Travel Insurance
We would also like to take the opportunity to encourage you to take out travel insurance. We realize that for many people, their Whitsunday sailing holiday will be one of their biggest expenses in Australia!
Pre-departure Information
Bed Bugs
BB are a hazard of modern travel. We would be grateful if you come into contact with bed bugs that you take steps to ensure that you do not bring them onto our vessel.
Check In
Ensure you check-in at our Reservations Office at least 2 hours before your departure.
Diet
We cater for any special dietary requirements. Please let us know well in advance if you have special dietary requirements.
Diving
You may require a Dive Medical Certificate before you can dive if certain conditions apply to you. Please ask us about this.
Drinking water and BYO
We have drinking water available on all our vessels. Ensure you drink enough fluids. All boats at BYO.
Luggage
We provide luggage storage. Please do not bring large suitcases on our boats. Ensure what you bring is all in a small soft bag.
No Glass/Plastic
Do not bring any glass or plastic bags on the boats. OzSail is committed to protecting the environment and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and marine animals.
Sea Sickness
If you think you may suffer from sea sickness, please ensure you consult your doctor or pharmacist on how to manage this onboard.
Sunscreen and Hat
You will be in a tropical environment. Dehydration and sun strike are a real risk. Please ensure you apply sunscreen every 2 hours (min 30+) and wear protective clothing, including a hat.
Travel Insurance
Make sure you have it.
Weather
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is located in tropic north Queensland. This means that in summer the weather can be very hot (with temperatures up to 35oC with 100% humidity).
